Washington Zebedee Manning, 86, of Ovett, MS, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Crescent Landing Assisted Living in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on September 15, 1938, in Richton, Mississippi, Zeb dedicated his life to serving others as a Methodist minister in Mississippi and Alabama. He had a profound passion for missions, leading numerous teams worldwide to build churches for the underserved. Zeb also enjoyed constructing new homes and cherished his favorite scripture, Matthew 25:40.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Manning; his son, Randall Manning; his father, T.Z. Manning; his mother, Fannie Walley Manning; and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons, Billy Manning (DeLinda), Dwayne Manning (Karen), and Phillip Manning (Angela); his grandchildren, Monica Manning, Meagan Brooker (Jacob), James Manning (Dana), Adam Williams, Josh Lee Williams (Lisa), Elizabeth White (Austin), Bree Heeke (Ky), Bailey Manning, Marshall Manning, Jeremy Manning, Josh Manning (Ann), and Jacob Manning (Kelsey); and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Gwen Hale (Randy).
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Beech Cemetery in Ovett, MS, with burial to follow. Bro. Abram Atkinson will officiate the service, and arrangements are being handled by Ellisville Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
