Walter Fredrick Todd passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1947 in Laurel, MS to Bruce and Gladys Hollingsworth Todd.

Walt grew up in Laurel before joining the Air Force where he served as military police at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Florida and later at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico before making his home in Laurel, Mississippi.

Upon discharge from the Air Force, Walt worked for Howard Industries for 52 years before retiring as  general foreman in 2021. He spent his retirement years with Jean, his wife of 51 years gardening and spending time with their family.

Walt, known as Freddie by the ones he loved, was the anchor of his family; gently offering guidance, advice, support, and words of encouragement. He will be remembered for his humble spirit, warmth, kindness, respect of others, and his dedication to his family. He was a loved and respected friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Todd and Gladys Hollingsworth Todd; brothers Jerry Todd, Charles Todd, and Kenneth Ray Todd; and sisters Jackie Gordon, Judy Ratcliff, and Joanne Moss.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jean Walters Todd; sons James Lavell Conn (Wanda) and Timothy Jay Conn, Sr; Grandchildren Christy Nicole Wilson (Scott), Timothy Jay Conn, Jr. (Lisa), James Daniel Conn (Jamie), Elisha Virginia Jenkins (Clayton), and Amber Dawn Conn; and Great Grandchildren Kylee Nicole Wilson, Brenna Reese Conn and Wesley Walter Conn, Jackson Daniel Conn, Jace Edward Conn, Jamison William Conn and Jenna Grace Conn, Joseph Ray Harris, Danyelle Elizabeth Hinton and Breonna Renee McDonald, Aiden Gregory Turner, Asher Timothy Busby and Saylor Grace Butler.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 9:00am-11:00am at Ellisville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Edwin Todd will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Conn, TJ Conn, JD Conn, Joseph Harris, Charlie Legg, and Brandon Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Wilson, Joe Shows, and Carlton Williams.
