Vergie Elizabeth Yates, 78, of Ellisville, MS, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at Jones County Rest Home. She was born on June 23, 1948, in Covington County, MS.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jimmy Terrell Yates; parents, Ellen and Reverend Harvey Lowery; siblings, Ethel Lowery, Doris Gatewood, Inez Kitchens, Evelyn Sanford.

She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Charlotte Maxcey (Gail), son, Charles Yates (Tiffany); grandchildren, Richard Randall, Bit Yates (Ashley), Nicole ‘Baby Cake” Yates; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Yates, Charlie Grayson, Nichole Yates, Harley Yates, Liam Yates; siblings, Glenda Holifield, Mary Ellen Lowery, Charels Rayford Lowery, Elzie Lowery, Shirley Lowery, Harvey Lowery Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Jesus Name Church of Ellisville, Mississippi, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM at the same location, with burial at Sandhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. David Williams will officiate Arrangements are under the care of Ellisville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Zach Shoemake, Zach Eubanks, Austin McWhorter, Stefan Armstrong, Zach Amon, and Tony Odom.

Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Williams.
