Obituary

Thomas K. Mitchell, 66, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Laurel, MS. He was born on April 16, 1960, in Laurel, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Marvin and Cammie Mitchell, Sisters, Fay Leno, Carolyn Mitchell.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 32 years, Angelia Mitchell; son, Samuel Mitchell, brothers, Duane Mitchell (Elaine), John Mitchell (Elvira); Sisters, Sherry Mitchell, Shelia Kramer, and a host of nieces and nephews.

His first love before anything was God. He enjoyed going to church and listening to the word. He is a member of Salem Heights Church. He shared the word everywhere he went. He knew where he was going to spend eternity.

He appreciated the men that stepped up to help keep him out of trouble when he was a young teen. The men would give him odd jobs like painting the blue mailboxes or the curbs, and planting and picking the muscadines.

He became a truck driver or as he would say “An Engineer of Relocation of Freight by Highway use with a truck, some call us Truck Drivers”. He loved his work, and he retired from Wayne-Amick Farms after a stroke and heart issues but he missed working there and his friends.

His favorite past time was fishing with his son and teaching him everything he knew. Fishing at the house boat would put a smile all over his face. No better place to relax and fish.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 18, 2026, at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi, from 12:00PM to 2:00 PM.
