Sylvia Evans Koontz, 79 of Laurel, MS passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. She was born Friday, May 26, 1944, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM, at Ellisville Funeral Home in 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Faith Chapel Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Evans; mother, Virginia Bunch Morse; grandchild, Austin Koontz.

Survivors include her sons, Jeff Koontz (Brenda), James Koontz (Renee) and Thomas Koontz (Cassie); grandchildren, Jeff Koontz Jr., Elizabeth Johnson (Daniel), Jamie Wood, Lance Koontz (Allison), Zachary Koontz, Conner Koontz and Tyler Koontz; and 6 Great-grandchildren brothers, Eugene Morse (Wanda), Allen Morse (Sophia), Mike Morse and Darryl Morse (Dawn); sisters, Velma Gray (George) and Wanda Evans.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Koontz Sr., Jeff Koontz Jr., James Koontz, Thomas Koontz, Zachary Koontz, and Daniel Johnson.
