Sybil L. Cochran
January 22, 1958 – February 25, 2026
With deep sorrow and abiding love, we announce the passing of Sybil L. Cochran, who went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026, at Forest General Hospital.
Born on January 22, 1958, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Sybil was a woman whose life was defined by her laughter, her radiant smile, and the deep love she carried for her family. She had a joyful spirit and a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her humor was quick, her heart was generous, and her presence brought warmth wherever she went.
Sybil loved God with all her heart and was strong in her faith. She leaned on that faith in every season of life and shared it openly through kindness, encouragement, and prayer. She found peace in nature and joy in simple things — sunshine, fresh air, and time spent surrounded by the people she loved most.
Her greatest treasure in life was her family. She loved fiercely and completely, always putting her children and grandchildren at the center of her world. Her love was steady, sacrificial, and unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Cochran; her beloved daughter, Misty L. Hutchinson; her mother, Mildred Azalene Turner; her father, Howard Harold Turner; and her five sisters, Lavada Stokley, Clarice Dearman, Bonnie Dickerson, Lillie Boyd, and Opal Hamburg.
She leaves behind her loving son, Trevor Cochran (Madeline); her devoted daughter, Amanda Holifield (Doug); her cherished grandsons, Dillon Cochran and Luke Cochran; and her precious granddaughters, Maci Holifield and Ramsey Holifield. She is also survived by multiple sisters and brothers, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing that Sybil's faith has become sight and that she is now reunited with those who went before her. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her smile will live in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us.
She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed. And she will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. Jeremiah Stemple will officiate the services, and arrangements are being handled by Ellisville Funeral Home.
