Obituary

Our beloved mother Shirley Elizabeth Adams, 83, of Ellisville, MS, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Forrest General Hospital after complications from surgery, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Jones County born on April 13, 1942, in Mississippi, Shirley lived a life full of love and dedication to her family.


Shirley married her sweetheart, Jerry Adams, and together they built a beautiful life and a strong family foundation. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures in life like playing sudoku, solitaire and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jerry Edward Adams, Sr.; her father, Milton C. Johnson, Sr.; her mother, Willie Thelma Little Hunter; her brothers, Clint Johnson, Milton C. Johnson, Jr., and Billy Jack Johnson (Doris); and her step-father, George Earl Hunter.


Shirley is survived by her son, Jerry E. Adams Jr; her daughters, Teresa Taylor (Jack), and Veronica Hamm. She was a proud grandmother to Austin C. Hamm, Tiffany Taylor (Zachary Hill), Brianna Jalalzadeh (Arthur), Shawn Taylor (Sarah), and Katie Adams (Wes Watkins). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Jax Taylor, Harper Pickering, Kinsley Jalalzadeh, Aria Jalalzadeh, Maddox Jalalzadeh, Reid Taylor, Myers Taylor, Boone Taylor, and Lexi Mahaffey.


Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at Ellisville City Cemetery, with Bro. Kenny Morris officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest at Ellisville City Cemetery in Ellisville, Mississippi. Pallbearers will include Wes Watkins, Zachary Hill, Arthur Jalalzadeh, Shawn Taylor, Jax Taylor, and Rob Ruffin.
