Obituary

Sherry Jeanette Ellzey passed away peacefully in Conroe, Texas on September 23, 2023 at the age of sixty after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 17, 1962 in Dallas, Texas to her parents Virgil Ellzey and Margaret Jeanette Ellzey. She was married to David N. Elliott on February 15, 1980 and from that union had one daughter Jennifer.

Sherry was a graduate of Sunset High School in June 1980 and after that time worked in various jobs until her final employment with the City of Dallas assigned to City Hall as Police Security where she remained until becoming disabled due to illness. She got an interest in law enforcement and followed in her father and brother's footsteps. Her Father retired as a Lieutenant with Farmers Branch Police Department after 28 years and brother Paul retiring as a Homicide Detective with the Dallas Police Department respectfully after 36 years. Her family was so proud of her.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother Margaret J. Ellzey in January 1988 and her father Virgil Ellzey in April 2022.

Sherry is survived by her daughter Jennifer Strouse and husband Dirk Strouse of Conroe, Texas, granddaughter Sabrina Strouse of Conroe, Texas, grandsons Zacary Hufford of Conroe, Texas, and Davin Strouse of Conroe, Texas. Her brother Paul V. Ellzey and wife Tammy Ellzey of Larue, Texas, sister Margaret D. Carpenter and husband Andrew Carpenter of Rockwall, Texas. Stepmother Laverne C. Ellzey of Red Oak, Texas, step sisters Terrie Bartlett of Winnsboro, Texas, Amy Arias of Como, Texas and Mindi Taylor of Corinth, Texas. She also leaves behind a best friend of 25 plus years Mrs. Ann Hyles of Waxahachie, Texas.

Sherry was a loving wife of 15 years to husband David Elliott, loving mother to Jennifer and loved and adored her three grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing with her family whenever she could, and vacations spent with family and friends. She was so proud of her daughter and all her accomplishments in life and watched her grandchildren grow up and each find their way in life. She had a green thumb like her brother for gardening and enjoyed growing and tending to her flowers. She loved life, family and friends and never lost her faith in God even thru all she endured with her many illnesses. She was baptized as a child and knew God as her lord and savior. She last resided at the Conroe Heath Care Center in Conroe, Texas. She had many friends there and enjoyed all the festivities and outings they would plan for the

residence. We all celebrated her 60th birthday there and she loved every minute of it. Sherry has never met a stranger. She could walk up to anyone and thru her gift of conversation make them feel warm as though they were old friends. She was loved very much by her family, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. She was a strong woman and fought hard all the way to the end.! All who ever knew her will miss her dearly.
