Obituary

Rebecca Chancellor Cottingham, 97, passed away October 1, 1926, at the Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville Mississippi. She was a faithful, loving Pastor’s wife for over 60 years.

After she retired from teaching, she enjoyed teaching children and adults how to read. She was a very generous and giving person with her time, money, and resources. Even in her later years she would bake cakes for friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her son Ronnie (Beverly) Cottingham, daughter Rosilind (Johnny)Worrell, Two granddaughters, Christie (Lee) Merck and Jennifer (David) Williamson, Six great granddaughters, Maggie (David) Whitten, Caroline (Cole) Claton, Colleen Merck, Kaitlyn Williamson, Peyton (Carter) Hall, and Abigail (Henri) Anslinger, Three great - great granddaughters, Harper Joy, Autumn Jane and Sadie, Jo Clayton.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Rev. Russell Cottingham, parents, Roy and Mattie Chancellor, sister, Voncile, Morton, brothers, Freddie and Rothelle Chancellor.

Pallbearers will be Lance Chancellor, Greg Chancellor, Mike Chancellor, Wayne McLemore, Rev. Randy McCan.

Honoray Pallberer will be Dr. Joe Michael Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 5, 2026, at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow Monday October 5, 2026, at 11:00AM at the same location, with burial at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Laurel, MS. Dr. Lee Merck and Dr. David Williamson will officiate.
