Paul E. Trice, a cherished resident of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 88. at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on July 26, 1937, in Webster County, Kentucky, Paul led a life marked by dedication, kindness, and community spirit.
Paul was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to fellowship and service. As a strong-willed Kentuckian and a Baptist by faith, he was not only a mentor to many but also a beloved figure within his neighborhood. Known affectionately as the Mayor of his neighborhood, Paul could often be seen patrolling the area in his distinctive red golf cart, embodying both his love for community and his approachable nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Bernice Trice; his son, Steve Trice; brothers Roy Trice, Howard Trice, and Jerry Trice; and sisters Frances Trice and Sue Ligon.
Paul is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Trice; his son, Ben Barry, and wife Ruth; his daughter, Paula Holt, and husband Eddie; as well as grandchildren Tim Trice and his wife Megan, Laci Blue and her husband Daniel, Jacob Holt and his wife Devin, Hunter Barry and his wife Karlie, and Hannah Barry. He also leaves behind precious great-grandchildren Harper Trice, Zoe Trice, Caitlyn Blue, and Kelsey Blue. Paul’s brother James Trice and his wife Connie, along with his sisters Sandra Clayton and her husband Barry, and Janice Anderson, continue to cherish his memory. He was also survived by his daughter-in-law Paula Trice, mother of his children Lois Trice, and dear friends Sherri Crane, June Hannah, Jean Todd, Gene Hudson, and the Crocker family.
A Graveside service to honor Paul’s life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hickory Grove Cemetery, located at 1302 Old Bay Springs Road in Laurel, Mississippi. The burial will follow immediately after the service. Pallbearers will include Ben Barry, Hunter Barry, Eddie Holt, Jacob Holt, Dr. Chad Harris, and Jim Conn. Arrangements are entrusted to Ellisville Funeral Home.
Paul E. Trice’s legacy is one of steadfast love, unwavering commitment to his community, and enduring friendship. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
