Michael Owen Walters, 77, of Ovett, MS, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Ovett, MS. Born on October 17, 1947, in Ellisville, Mississippi, Michael was a cowboy at heart who loved spending his days training horses and taking care of his cattle. He was known for his hard work and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelia Sue Shows Walters, his father, Thomas Jack Walters, and his mother, Audrey Nell Everett Walters.

Michael is survived by his son, Chris Walters and wife Dawn, and his daughter, Charlotte Phillips and husband Lorne. He leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Lizzie Freeman and husband Zach, Emily Hamil, Dalyn Reynolds and husband Daegan, Lola Phillips, Kinzie Walters, and Calvin Walters, as well as great-grandchildren Oliver May and Clark Freeman. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Walters and wife Lisa, his sister, Connie Dunagin and husband Robert, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, located at 1164 Old Highway 15 South, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location, with Bro. Ray Matthews and Dr. Aaron Parker officiating. Burial will take place in Lancaster Cemetery in Ovett, MS. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
