Stringer
October 15, 1926 – March 27, 2026
Mary Frances "Tootsie" Stringer, age 99, of Ellisville, Mississippi, passed peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Jones County Rest Home. She was born on October 15, 1926, and lived a faithful life marked by love, service, and devotion to her family, her studnts, and her Lord.
Tootsie was a proud graduate of Ellisville High School, Jones County Junior College, and The University of Southern Mississippi. She dedicated 37 years of her life to teaching at Ellisville Elementary School, where she poured her heart into every child she encountered. Her impact on generations of young lives will never be forgotten.
In May of 1951, she married the love of her life, Franklin J. Stringer. Their marriage was one of enduring love and commitment, lasting until his passing. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
A devoted member of Ellisville United Methodist Church, Tootsie faithfully attended until she was no longer able, holding the honor of being its oldest member. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith were an example to all who knew her. Tootsie was also a charter member of the Halcyon Club, where she served her community.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Diann Stringer Butler, and her son-in-love, Pat Butler; her grandson, Heath Butler (Anna Butler); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Riley Butler, Maycee Butler, and Mollee Jefcoat. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin J. Stringer; her parents, John Pool Sr. and Beatrice Pool; her sisters, Bernice Jackson, Ruth Johnson, and Lois Thomas; and her brothers, John V. Pool Jr. and Howard Pool.
Tootsie will be remembered for her kind heart, her servant's spirit, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—as a teacher, a mother, a grandmother, and a faithful friend. Though she is deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her.
