Mary Alice Schrimpshire, 79, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on April 22, 1946, in Meridian, Mississippi, Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and companion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schrimpshire, her parents, Fred Mason Peak and Edna Mae Cox Platt, and her brothers, Freddie Earl Peak and Charles Cox. Sisters, Molly, Bonnie, and a host of other brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Sheila Marie Kersh, her sons, Richard Douglas Schrimpshire and his wife Shannan, and Matthew Schrimpshire. She was a cherished grandmother to Richard Blake Schrimpshire, Danielle LaShae Schrimpshire, Breanna Gregory, Matthew Jason Schrimpshire, Stephen Schrimpshire, and Cavan Sampson Kersh, and a proud great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many.

She is also survived by her companion, James Garrett Etheridge.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location, with burial at Pinehill Baptist Church Cemetery in Enterprise, MS. Arrangements are under the care of Ellisville Funeral Home.
