Obituary

L.D. Bryant, Jr., age 94, of Ovett, MS passed away on January 15, 2024, in Columbia, TN.

L.D. was born on March 9, 1929 to Lorenzo Dow Bryant and Lydia Mae Keyes in Raleigh, MS. He graduated from Raleigh High School and entered the Air Force where he served for twenty years with deployments to France and Germany and U.S. mainland assignments in Texas and Alabama.  After retiring in 1968, L.D. and his family moved to Ovett, MS and established Sergeant's Ranch where he enjoyed a second career raising cattle. With the onset of Covid in 2020, L.D. moved to TN where he lived with his son, David, and his family in Columbia, TN until his passing.

L.D. married Mary Louise Schofield, of Bemidji, MN, in 1955 after meeting while they were both in the military.  They have two children, Patricia May Bryant Howard (Rick) of Chattanooga, TN and David Dow Bryant (Janet) of Columbia, TN. There are also six grandchildren, Andrew Bryant (Lindsay), Elizabeth Lamb, Kathryn Marlin (Michael), Josh Howard (Kendra), Beky Sandidge (Ryan) and Hannah Mudd (Joseph) and thirteen great grandchildren.

L.D. was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Sue Williams of Jackson, MS, Bonnie Aldridge, of Montgomery, AL and Mildred Kennedy of Augusta, GA.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Ellisville Funeral Home on 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM. The burial will then take place in Bezer Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi. Brother Nathan Bryant will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-477-3797
