John Wyatt Wakeland, 74 of Houston, TX passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Memorial Herman SW in Houston, TX. He was born Friday, September 15, 1950, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Bay Street Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, MS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00AM at Bay Street Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, MS with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Pastors Ronnie Rowe of Memphis, TN and Brian Davis of Hattiesburg, MS will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-477-3797.

Johnny lived in the Hattiesburg area until 2016 at which time he moved to Houston to be closer to David and his family. He loved being with his nephews and great nephews for birthdays, ballgames, and holidays. Johnny Was a member of Southwest Presbyterian Church in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Levy Wakeland, mother, Margaret Street Wakeland, brother Mark Wakeland.

Survivors include his brother, David Wakeland (Melinda) of Houston, TX.  Nephew's Jonathan (Ashley) Wakeland, Joseph (Melissa) Wakeland, James Wakeland, Jess Wakeland and great nephews Grayson, Sawyer, Reed, Carter and Palmer Wakeland of Houston, TX

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Wakeland, Joseph Wakeland, Charles Wilson, Dan Newcomb, Bob Lambes and Ricky Nause.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Liner and Danny Anderson.
