James Thomas "HOOT" Knight, 78 of Ovett, MS passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Laurelwood Assisted Living in Laurel, MS. He was born Sunday, May 6, 1945, in Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Glade Landmark Missionary  Baptist Church, 41 Bush Road Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00AM at Glade Faithway Baptist Church in Laurel, MS. Burial will follow in Oak Bowery Cemetery in Ellisville, MS. Hoot loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors with his family. He loved singing in the church with his friends and loved anything to do with the Knight family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Rae Martin Knight; father, John Ellis Knight; mother, Margaret Whatley Knight; brothers, William Carol Knight, John Afton Knight and Clinton O. Knight; sisters, Virginia Sims and Wanda Gail Lancaster.

Survivors include his daughter, Jeanine Knight of Laurel, MS; brothers, Albert Knight and Ellis Knight, and Alex Knight, and Michael Knight, and Richard Knight; sisters, Sarah Ann Ishee, and Betty Jo Grafton.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Knight, Ethan Knight, Colton Knight, Shane Knight, Kenneth Landrum, Johnathan Ishee, and Justin Knight.
