Obituary

James Calvin Blackmon, 88, of Ellisville, MS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 6, 1937, in Laurel, MS.

James was a loving father and very devoted husband. He loved his family very much and was proud of all his family, loved all the grandkids. He had a very deep love for big trains and the O scale hobby trains. He was loved by all, dated Patricia for 9 months and stayed in love for 65 years. He and Patricia were very active and members at West Ellisville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Eugene and Ada Lula Blackmon.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 65 years, Patricia Nell Blackmon; children, Tammy Slay (Dutch), Mona Pollard (James), Tim Blackmon (Darline); grandchildren, Wade Slay, Zachary Slay, Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief Cameron Slay (Nichole), Brandon Salley (Ashleigh), Archie James Pollard, Barrett Pollard, Kayla Gonzalez (Michael), Staff Sergeant (Instructor) Aaron Blackmon; great-grandchildren, Liam Slay, Lilly Salley, Archie Pollard, Jean Pollard, Amelia Claire Gonzalez, Lucas Aaron Gonzalez, and Tate Michael Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 18, 2026, at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi, from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow on Friday June 19, 2026, at 10:00AM at the same location, with burial at Big Creek Cemetery. Brother Jim Taylor will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Ellisville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Slay, Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief Cameron Slay, J. J. Koontz, Archie James Pollard, Barrett Pollard, Wade Slay and Staff Sergeant (Instructor) Aaron Blackmon.
