Herman Sherrill Blackwell, 71, of Ellisville, MS, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins, Mississippi. He was born Sunday, January 12, 1947 in Jones County, MS.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at New Bethany Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oak Bowery Cemetery. Bro. Ricky Owens will officiate. Sherrill was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired in 2009 from a lifetime career spent as an electrician. During his career, he worked in residential construction as well as at Masonite and at Howard Industries. After retiring, Sherrill enjoyed volunteering at Mitchell Farms. He was an active member of New Bethany Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman B. Blackwell and Marie Rogers Blackwell and his younger brother, Windell Blackwell.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Blackwell; children, Blake Blackwell, Ellisville, MS and Shea Yingling (Chris), Ellisville, MS; siblings, Bobbie Knight (Jerry), Ellisville, MS, Marilyn Welborn (Larry), Brandon, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
