Herbert Hoover, 86, of Runnelstown, MS passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Thursday, November 26, 1931 in Osyka, MS.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Runnelstown, MS with funeral services to follow at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church of Runnelstown Cemetery. Bro. Hal Hood will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 477-3797
Herbert graduated from Runnelstown High School in 1951 and joined the United States Air Force that same year. He served during the Korean War. After completing his tenure in the Air Force, Herbert obtained a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics from Mississippi State University. After working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for more than 30 years, Herbert went to work for the University of Nebraska where he retired in 1998.
A Mississippi native, Herbert moved to Lincoln Nebraska in 1972 and lived there until his retirement. In 2000, he and wife Cloyce began splitting their time between their Nebraska home and their Mississippi home until they fully retired to Mississippi in 2015. Herbert and Cloyce were active members in the First Baptist Church of Runnelstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Choice Lee Hoover Sr. and Annie Bell Harvey Hoover; siblings, James "Buddy" Hoover, Johnny Hoover, Choice Lee "Sonny" Hoover Jr., Cecil Davis and Vicki Winter.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Cloyce Ann Hoover; children, Grayson Spomer (Stephen), Lincoln, NE, Michael Hoover (Lesley), Lincoln, NE, Amber Rhoades (Edward), Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Travis Spomer, Dayton Spomer, Taylor Hoover Tilton and Alexandra Hoover; siblings, Alfred Davis (Thias), Wiggins, MS, Marie Babbington ( Bobby), Slidell, LA; sisters-in-law, Netta Hoover, Laurel, MS and Rose Mary Groves, Baton Rouge, LA and brother-in-law, Wayne Winter, Pearl River, LA.
Pallbearers will be Travis Spomer, Dayton Spomer, Taylor Hoover Tilton, Edward Rhoades and Stephen Spomer.
