Gerald William Young, Sr., 79 of Ovett, MS passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Jones County Rest Home, surrounded by family. He was born Monday, February 14, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-477-3797.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kernell Young; mother, Charlie Opal Rowell Young; brothers, Otto Young and Larry Young; sister, Faye Busby.

Survivors include his daughter, Charlie Bock (Jim); son, Gerald Young, Jr. (Tina); grandchildren, Tiffani Lyon (Zach), Hope Young, Carissa Slaughter (Ethan), Alyssa Mims (Cody) and Brandon Mobbs (Kelli); and 10 great-grandchildren.
