Gerald Peter Greig, Jr., 97 of Laurel, MS passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Comfort Care Nursing Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, October 2, 1926, in Abbeville, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 833 W 6th St., Laurel, Mississippi. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Laurel, Mississippi. Father Ignacio Jimenez and Deacon Rich Hollingsworth will officiate.  Burial will be in Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi at a later date.  Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements 601-477-3797.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Doris "Smoky" Roberts Greig; parents, Gerald P. and Azelie Morrogh Greig Sr; sisters, Marjory Guidry, Geraldine Talbot (Emmett), Ramona Thibodeaux (Joe), and Gloria Negley (Charles).

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Michiko Kojima Greig; her son, David Taylor (Caron) and her daughter Arleen Chesser; his son Gerald Peter Greig lll and his daughters, Janys Canizaro (Pete), Barbara Burwell (Rusty).  Grandchildren Jason Garner (Mari), Jonathan Garner, Tracy Canizaro, Amanda Dearman (Caine), Kyra Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Garett Taylor, and Nicholas "Nick" Chesser.  Great grandchildren, Ashlyn Garner, Caden Garner, Maygan Canizaro, Jobe Dearman, Emily Dearman, Karli Moore, Samuel Kelly, and Sawyer Canizaro.

Among many other interests, Gerald had a great interest in woodworking and the feel and luster of beautiful fine woods. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers all memorial donations be made to the Arbor Day Foundation at a https://www.arborday.org/ and click on "donate".
