Fred Butler, 78 of Ellisville, MS passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at his residence in Ellisville, MS. He was born Saturday, June 16, 1945, in Carthage, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home in 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. John Cockrell will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-477-3797.

Fred was a member of First Baptist Church of Pecan Grove. He served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for approximately 30 years. He was a school teacher for the Jones County school district for approximately 30 years. Fred also served in the Navy Seabees.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Butler; mother, Julia Logan Butler; sisters, Phyllis Aidt, Donna Welch and Betty Cline.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jill Moore Butler; son, Joshua Butler; brother, Jack Butler (Ruth); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Travis Johnson, Andy Johnson, Bryan Moore, Jack Moore, Sammy Shows, and Marvin Montgomery.
