Ester Brenda Smith, 83, of the Oak Grove community, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Born on July 31, 1942, in Jones County, Mississippi, Brenda lived a life full of love and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Thomas Smith, her father, Doc Ray Broadway, her mother, Norma Mapp Broadway, and her siblings, including one brother and three sisters.

Brenda is survived by her son, Pernell Smith and his wife Christy, and her daughter, Belinda Lyon and her husband Brad, all residing in Ellisville, MS. She also leaves behind her brother, Miles Broadway and his wife Alice, and her sister, Renae Shows.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Johnathon Smith, Hollie Perkins and her husband Will, Johna Hill and her husband Forest, Brett Wells (Sami Jo) and, Sara Lyon Thomas, Adam Lyon and his wife Faith, Lori Bullock and her husband Blake, Lindsey Sundermann and her husband Jake, and DJ Mapp and his wife Beth, along with 16 cherished great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location, with burial in Broadway Cemetery in the Whitfield community.

Pallbearers will include Adam Lyon, Brett Wells, Johnathon Smith, DJ Mapp, Forest Hill, and Will Perkins.
