Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave William Robertson on October 30, 2026. Born on September 7, 1941, in the warm and welcoming town of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Dave lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service to others. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that touched countless lives.

Dave was the beloved son of the late Earnest and Arie Robertson. He was predeceased by his cherished parents, his first wife Kaye Robertson, and his sons Jeff and Keith Robertson. Despite these losses, Dave's spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to spread love and joy to everyone around him.

On December 28, 1999, Dave married the love of his life, Joan F. Dyess in their hometown of Ellisville. Together, they built a beautiful life over 26 years, filled with love and laughter. Joan remains in Ellisville, surrounded by the family and friends who love her.

In addition to his beloved Joan, Dave leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory. His daughters, Sonia McGowan of Florence, Melanie Robertson (Jeff) of Brandon, and Melissa Uldrick (Mark) of Ellisville, will carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. He was a proud and adored grandfather to Megan McGowan, David (DJ) McGowan, Anna Grace McGowan, Chelsey Andries (Thomas), Chasity Robertson, and Kinsley Uldrick. His great-grandchildren, Braeson McGowan, Kayleigh McGowan, Tatum Andries, and Beckham Andries, brought him immense joy and pride.

Dave served his country with honor in the U.S. Army for 8 year. He became an active and cherished member of the Ellisville First Methodist Church, where he was a dedicated member of the security team. His faith and devotion to his community were constants in his life.

Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Dave had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Whether he was quilting with meticulous embroidery, picking vegetables from his garden, or immersing himself in a good book, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His kindness and generosity were a beacon of light to all who knew him.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held on November 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Ellisville First Methodist Church, located at 202 S. Church St., Ellisville, MA 39437. Family and friends are invited to gather in memory of a man who gave so much to those around him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ellisville First Methodist Church building fund, in honor of Dave's unwavering commitment to his faith and community.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and congregation of Ellisville First Methodist Church for their prayers, food, and hospitality. Special thanks also go to the compassionate nursing staff at Deaconess Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

Dave William Robertson will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
