Chris A. Townsend, 76, of Ellisville, MS, passed away peacefully on Friday April 10, 2026, at South Central Regional Medical Center, Born on November 11, 1949, in Laurel, MS.

Chris was a member of Moselle Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Laura Townsend; brother, David Townsend.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 43 years, Karen Caldwell Townsend; children, Scott Posey (Stacey), Wendy Posey Cockrell (Tate), Christy Langley Lightfoot (Rama); grandchildren, Tatum Cockrell Massingill (Jacob), Preston Cockrell, Spencer Cockrell, Will Posey, Reid Posey.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:30AM at the same location, with burial at Moselle Memorial Gardens in Moselle, MS.

Dr. Keith Thompson will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Ellisville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Sam Caldwell, Preston Cockrell, Spencer Cockrell, Will Posey and Reid Posey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Napier, Ronnie Polson, Robert Carr, and John Thiem.
