Carole Lynne Smith, 62, of Petal formerly of Ellisville, MS, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, of Pancreatic Cancer, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on March 30, 1962, in Laurel, Mississippi, Lynne dedicated her life to Christ, family, and her profession.
She was a devoted Respiratory Therapist and Instructor, having retired from Meridian Community College. Her career also included positions at UMMC and Hinds Community College. Lynne was well-educated, holding an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (Ole Miss) and a master's in health administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Former owner of Lily B's Florist in Ellisville.
Lynne was preceded in death by her father, Wendel Turner; her mother, Carolyn Bush Turner; and her brother, Mike Turner. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Tim Smith; her sons, Robert Tyler Smith and Michael Smith (Melanie); her daughter, Jessica Smith; her grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Gabby Smith, Conner Smith, and Mila Smith; one great-grandchild; her sister, Jan Hughes (John); her nephews, John Ethan Hughes (Cassidy) and Turner Hughes; and her niece, Mary Claire Hughes; and also her treasured aunt, Charlotte Bush Rice.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Ellisville Funeral Home, located at 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 2:00PM at the same location, with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ellisville, Mississippi. Bro. Dwayne Higgason and Bro. Andy Pittman will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will include Tyler Smith, Stan Burton, Donnie Scoggin, John Ethan Hughes, Turner Hughes, and Jonathan Strickler. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Butler, Roby Moseley, Larry (Strawberry) Brewer, and Conner Smith.
Lynne's prayer was that she demonstrated her faith and hope in Christ through every situation. Remember you may be the only Bible some people ever read. Always let others see Jesus in you.
