Betty Jean McLain, 77, of Greenwood, Mississippi, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Greenwood, Mississippi. She was born Monday, September 20, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Ellisville Funeral Home with the burial to follow in Ellisville City Cemetery. Betty has written and published over twenty four novels. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband R.A. McLain, her parents, Walter Durdin and Mary McGinnis, as well as one sister, Mary Ann Durdin.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Carpenter (Doug), Amanda Young (Raymond), three sons, R.A. McLain Jr., Randy McLain and Vincent McLain (Joyce), her sister, Ileene Dickey, her brothers, Walter Durdin, Bryant Durdin and James "Mike" Durdin as well as ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randy McLain, Vincent McLain, Travezz McLain, Doug Carpenter, Raymond Young Jr., and Matt Smith.
