Obituary

Barbara Ann Seals, lovingly known as "Bootie" to her brothers and sisters and affectionately called Aunt B, Granny, and Nana by those who cherished her, passed away peacefully at her residence in Laurel, Mississippi, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the age of 83.

Barbara was born on May 26, 1943, in Many, Louisiana. Above all else, she was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She was a longtime member of Freedom Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Barbara will be remembered for her kind and generous heart. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and welcomed others with warmth and compassion. She loved spending time with all of her "babies," and the moments shared with her family were among her greatest treasures. She also enjoyed a good game of cards and was always ready to challenge anyone wanting to sit down at the table. Those who knew her knew she played to win, and the laughter and memories made around those card games will be cherished for years to come.

If there is one thing her family hopes everyone remembers about Nana, it is the way she loved. She loved with her whole heart—with no conditions, no hesitation, and without expecting anything in return. She made everyone who walked through her door feel like family, and no one ever left her home hungry or without knowing they were cared for. She was the kind of woman who put others before herself, always offering a listening ear, a warm meal, a comforting hug, or words of wisdom. She helped raise her family, shaped who they are today, and filled their lives with memories they will treasure forever. Her kindness, strength, laughter, and unwavering love are the legacy she leaves behind. Though their hearts are broken, her family will honor her by loving others the way she loved them—with grace, generosity, and an open heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Clayton (T.C.) Seals Sr.; her son, Thomas Clayton (Clay) Seals Jr.; her daughter, Ramona Gayle (Sissy) Roberts; and her grandson, Jerry Clayton (Jacey) Seals.

She is survived by her loving son, Terrance (Terry) Wayne Seals; her granddaughters, Brittany Chancellor (Steven), Christina Seals, Terra West (Lieschen), Tiffany Smith, and Hannah Holifield (Blake) 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ellisville Funeral Home, 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Robby Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Lucedale, Mississippi. Pallbearers are Anthony Robinson, Eastin Smith, John Harrison Joel Fowler, Blake Holifield and Steven Chancellor

The family finds comfort in knowing that Barbara's legacy of love, kindness, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
