Barbara Jean Smith, aged 82, of Laurel, MS, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on March 7, 1942, in Ohio, Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.

Barbara was a passionate traveler and an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, cherishing the time spent watching football games. Her grandchildren lovingly called her 'Nanny', a testament to the deep bond she shared with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. 'Buddy' Smith; her father, James W. Johnson; her mother, Vera Howell Johnson; her grandchildren, Charlie Harvison, Ethan Smith, Izzy Smith, Eva James Smith; and her sister, Carol Ann Patton.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Ralph Smith (Felecia), Robert Smith, Jr. (Brandi), and Danny Smith (Tiffany); her daughters, Robin Harvison (Bobby) and Suzanne Smith; her grandchildren, Jeremy Hamilton, Justin Smith, Kyle Harvison, Jimmy Hamilton, Zaniel Smith, Karlee Smith, Jake Smith, Brody Crowder, Bentley Bellville, Asher Smith, Knox Smith, Stella Smith, Gia Smith, Livie Smith, and Ledger Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jim Johnson (Patsy).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home, 1204 B Ave, Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM at the same location, with burial at Oak Bowery Cemetery in Ellisville, Mississippi. Bro. Richard Clark and Bro. Jay Smith will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jeremy Hamilton, Jimmy Hamilton, Zaniel Smith, Jake Smith, Brody Crowder, and Justin Smith. Kevin Crowder will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
